Wow I just ran into this now. I recorded this show back in 2002 and my friend-God rest his soul-Peter G put it up here on archive. I remember this being a great time/great show kind of weekend at the old gathering of the vibes. Ken Hayes had a good 20 year run. Gone are the days.

Is it the show that's being reviewed here or is this a free dope lore pissing match? Maybe I'm just getting old.
Fine show. Pretty good quality recording. My favorite band lineup and solid song list.
Thanks, Guys!

This was an amazing show. I particularly remember on the saturday after the warren haynes acoutsic set, Wavy Gravy going around the croud talking to people with the mic from the P.A. system, and someone yelling into the mic, "WHERE ARE THE F***ING DOSES?!?!" Majically after Phil's first set I found mine... I remember when the undeniable first notes of Lucy came over the speakers, and I WAS THERE, I remember thinking this was a response to that question...

This was an absolutely unreal show. Right when things could not get any better, he breaks into LS w/ D and the glow sticks start popping up everywhere. Listen to the crowd on Shakedown Street, it was the connection moment for a whole weekend, and Not Fade Away simply blew the crowd away as well.
Terrapin Station was pretty good as well;)

I know folks for whom any show they were at was the "best show ever." That's not me... However, I was at this show, and it really was one of the best Phil shows I've seen or listened to.
I want to draw your attention to one memorable moment in the concert. Being the July 4th weekend, fireworks were going off all the time. One particularly loud whistler firework got set off during the jam after the first verse of Cumberland. Warren immediately mimicked the sound on his guitar and the rest of the band joined in in great swooping tones. Listening to each other (and your environment) is the foundation of great group improvisation. This is a fine example of their doing just that.
Unfortunately, the firework is only audible in the audience versions of the show. Of course, the musical reaction by band members is audible on both SBD and AUD.
On this audience show you can hear the firework at 10:57 into the Cumberland Blues track. The band's reaction follows a few seconds later.
